Maisie Williams Says It's "Almost Impossible" to Find a Dress at 5 Feet, So She Co-Designed This 1
Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams collaborated on her 2019 Emmy Awards dress with JW Anderson founder and creative director Jonathan Anderson, plus her boyfriend Reuben Selby, who met with Jonathan many times to craft something completely imagined. "I've always wanted the perfect custom red carpet dress - something that I feel really confident and comfortable in. I asked Reuben if he would design something with me in mind; my height, my shape, my likes and insecurities. I love collaborating on the dresses I wear, I wish I could do it more. Being five feet tall it is almost impossible to wear something straight off the hanger," Maisie said, as stated in a press release from the brand.
The result is a bold mixed style dress, with ornamental pleating on one side and crystal clusters on the other. The hemline is asymmetrical, sweeping the floor just a touch, and completely revealing Maisie's Roger Vivier shoes when she walked. Maisie's edgy ensemble was finished with Repossi jewelry. Frankly, we don't think she's ever appeared more calm, cool, and collected in front of the cameras, so it seems that must just come with a hands-on project like this one. We don't blame Maisie for wanting to wear something that fits her own figure properly. We rally behind anyone who speaks up about that! Here's to a dress that doesn't just look good – we have complete confirmation it feels good too.
