Apple’s New Mac Pro is Deja Vu All Over Again
Apple unveiled their latest Mac Pro today and it seems like we’ve been here before in terms of design. Power and output, as expected, are top of the line but what has people talking is the return of the classic “cheese grater” exterior.
To some of us, this is a marked improvement over the previous generation’s sleek trash can aesthetic. Some people also thought it looked like something Darth Vader would own.
Nonetheless, the new design and the specs underpinning it seem to be exactly what Mac fans have asked for for years.
The monitor might be of particular interest to photographers: A 32-inch Retina 6K Apple Pro Display XDR, it should be able to show you pretty much anything and everything in ultra high resolution.
It also uses Intel Xeon processors (up to 28 cores) and 8 PCIe expansion slots. Of course, it wouldn’t be an Apple product without a hefty price tag. The new Mac Pro should be available in the fall 2019 and will set you back about $USD 5,999.
Talking about the new Mac Pro, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller, said:
“We designed Mac Pro for users who require a modular system with extreme performance, expansion and configurability. With its powerful Xeon processors, massive memory capacity, groundbreaking GPU architecture, PCIe expansion, Afterburner accelerator card and jaw-dropping design, the new Mac Pro is a monster that will enable pros to do their life’s best work…Pro Display XDR is the world’s best pro display and the perfect companion to the all-new Mac Pro. With Retina 6K resolution, gorgeous colour, extreme brightness and contrast ratio, and a highly functional design, Pro Display XDR delivers the most comprehensive set of features ever offered on any display at this price point.”
