The 48MP Nokia X71 Coming Soon to Taiwan

You might not know this, but Nokia still makes smartphones.

Well, the company still slaps their name on them, at least.

That’s not a bad thing, especially if it is a good product.

And it looks like the Nokia X71 is going to be one solid smartphone according to its specs.

Brought to you by HMD Global, the Nokia X71 will hit the Taiwanese market with a minimalist, stripped-down look and a 48MP camera, a Snapdragon 660 processor, 128GB of expandable memory, and a triple-camera system on the back which all rock Zeiss-branded lenses. According to GSM Arena, these include a “48MP (main), 8MP (wide), and 5MP (depth) units.”

Rocking a 6.39 inch LCD screen that outputs at a 19.3:9 aspect ratio with FHD+ resolution, the phone will run Android 9 Pie and should compete with most phones that are striking just beneath the lofty heights of the flagship phones from Google and Samsung.

So far, HMD Global is only pushing the phone for the Taiwan and mainland Chinese markets but that doesn’t mean we won’t see it outside of those areas in the future.

If it does move outside of China and Taiwan, it will likely still bear the Nokia branding and most likely go by the name the Nokia 8.1 Plus according to The Verge.

As far as pricing goes, the Taiwan model is expected to cost roughly $USD 385 which makes it a little bit more expensive than similar phones from Xiaomi such as their Redmi Note 7.

The phone should be available at the end of this month with an expanded release coming sometime after, if at all.

Nokia probably wouldn't be the worst brand to get behind if you're serious about pushing a smartphone. After all, in the West at least, the old Nokia's are so legendary for being indestructible that the brand name has become a meme.
