Yongnuo’s YN450 Android 4K Mirrorless Camera Gets Closer to Becoming Reality

It looks like Yongnuo might be branching out from its Canon EF lens business and into the smartphone/camera hybrid market.

A fusion of mirrorless camera and Android-powered gadget, the YN450 is definitely looking to stake its own spot out in the photography gear world.

But is it worth your time? Depends on what you’re looking for in a camera.

One thing is sure: The Yongnuo YN450 is anything if not unique.

Powered by a Qualcomm 8-core processor, 16MP Micro Four Thirds sensor, and 3GB RAM, the YN450 will rock a Canon EF lens mount on the front with a 1080p touch display dominating the backside of the camera. This comes into play in a variety of ways but one cool feature is the touch screen autofocus system. You can autofocus through either the shutter button or the touch screen. That’s kind of cool. As you probably gathered from the title of the article, it will also run Android.

It’ll have a front facing 8MP camera for photos and 4K video. There will also be a mic, headphone jack, and GPS. The Yongnuo YN450 will also reportedly have 32GB of storage onboard with additional storage via a microSD card. For near-instant transfer of photos and video, the YN450 can use either wifi or a 4G SIM card.

In terms of a release window, PetaPixel reports that the company would like to have the product out in China by next month with a roll out to other countries like the United States later in the year.

One highlight for the camera is the price: Coming in at under $USD 500, the YN450 might find a market among those looking for something more than a smartphone.
